Talent Works International is a talent communications agency that helps employers to identify, approach and recruit the right talent. With offices in Northampton, Manchester and Boston, the business has been growing and evolving. When it became clear the existing Northampton office was too cramped and too conventional to support the company’s development, the decision was made to move to a bigger, more dynamically designed space.
Area’s task was to create a productive and collaborative workplace that would help to attract and retain staff, reflect the client’s ethos and culture, and accommodate future growth. It was important for Talent Works to be seen to practise what it preaches, providing an environment that would motivate and support its people and promote communication.
Area’s solution is reminiscent of a New York loft, with an open, spacious feel and industrial features that create a sense of energy. We conducted sessions with a crosssection of staff to gain an understanding of how they wanted to work, meet and relax. The resulting floorplan incorporates plenty of flexible space for big training sessions, breakout areas and diverse meeting rooms.
Standard desk settings have been replaced with new flexible stations that allow for agile working. The unconventional but stylish aesthetic includes brick walls, partially exposed ceilings and services, metal frames and wood finishes, and quirky creative touches such as the feature lighting. There are homely areas for sitting and chatting, a striking bar area, and a video wall to showcase work. People have the choice of working in the open-plan desk area, collaborating in groups or meeting in booths in the breakout spaces. Everything is wireless, allowing people to move freely with their laptops.
The new office not only has a great wow! factor, it has completely changed the way the company works.
Safia Parker, Senior Designer at Area commented, “The client was really engaged and is very happy with the result. The office is a much better reflection of the company’s brand and presents them in a completely different way.”
